Self-Guided Day Trip to Mount Vesuvius

  • 23 reviews | 221 travellers
Picked up on time at the meeting point, we were taken to the park entrance, where we received our ticket and QR code for the audio guide (it sometimes failed, but it's not necessary). The hike took approximately 1.5 minutes. The climb isn't comfortable, due to the incline and, above all, the loose gravel. Suitable footwear is recommended. Spectacular views once you reach the crater. Don't delay too long; time is limited, not to spare. The toilets are not recommended. Picked up on time, very crowded, but controlled.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from Via Galileo Ferraris, 40. From this point, close to the Napoli Centrale Station, we'll set off by bus to the most famous volcanos in the south of Italy.

After a 40-minute drive, we'll arrive at the Vesuvius National Park. We'll drop you off at the foothills of the mountain, where the bus driver will show you how to download the audio guide in English on your phone, which will let you get to know the history of this volcano, whose eruption buried the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Next, you'll have 1.5 hours of free time on Vesuvius to visit it, alongside the audio guide's explanations. If you wish, you can also climb to the top of the volcano, 1281 metres (4202 feet) above sea level. Please note that the bus will drop you off at an altitude of 1000 metres (3280 feet), making the hike to the summit a 30-minute walk.

From the summit of Mount Vesuvius, you'll be able to see the fumaroles emitted from the crater. Additionally, we'll enjoy extraordinary scenic views of the Gulf of Naples, whose landscapes will be forever etched in your memories.

Lastly, we'll meet up again where the bus dropped you off and, from here, we'll begin our journey back to Naples. We'll arrive at our original meeting point after a total of 3 hours.
